URBANDALE, Iowa -- Severe storms and flooding of May 5-7 affected many people in Shelby County. The Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division (HSEMD) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have announced that the mobile Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) will be in Shelby County on Tuesday, June 26th and Wednesday, June 27th to assist people who received damage from the storms.
The mobile DRC will be at the Harlan Fire Station, 906 Cyclone Ave. in Harlan on Tuesday, June 26th and Wednesday, June 27th. The hours of operation are from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Representatives of state, federal and voluntary agencies will be available to answer questions and provide recovery information. Officials from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will be ready to discuss disaster loans for homeowners, renters and businesses of all sizes. Written materials about various assistance programs are also provided to individuals and business owners.
Before visiting the mobile DRC, disaster victims are urged to register for assistance by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or on-line at www.fema.gov. The TTY number is 1 800 462 7585 for the hearing- or speech-impaired.
