Parsons, KS -- If you had damage in the April 19th and 20th severe storms and tornadoes and you have already applied for state and federal disaster assistance, you may still have questions.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Helpline is an important resource for those who have been affected by April's storms and have already registered for disaster assistance. The toll-free Helpline number is 1-800-525-0321 (TTY 1-800-462-7585). The Helpline is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (CDT).

Recovery officials encourage applicants to use the Helpline to check the status of their applications or to get additional information.

Registration for assistance is the first step in receiving help. Representatives from Kansas Division of Emergency Management (KDEM) and FEMA encourage renters, homeowners and business owners in the designated counties, Crawford, Labette and Neosho, who have not already done so, to call the FEMA toll-free registration number 1-800-462-9029 (TTY 1-800-642-7585). The hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (CDT) daily until further notice.
