St Clair, MO -- On Monday, June 5, the federal/state Disaster Recovery Center in Union will convert to a U.S. Small Business Administration Workshop.

The center, located in the lower level of the Union Memorial Auditorium, 501 E. Locust St., has been a resource for flood victims. It has provided access to specialists on assistance programs, mitigation techniques, and the SBA loan program.

The center will remain open until the close of business on Friday, June 2. It has helped more than 250 people. On Monday, June 5, it will reopen as an SBA workshop.

SBA workshops provide an opportunity for storm victims to discuss their loan applications directly with an SBA representative. Completing the application does not obligate the applicant to an SBA loan, but it is a required step in determining if they are eligible for other types of assistance.

This workshop will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. until further notice.

Federal Coordinating Officer Peter Martinasco said, "Even after the transition to an SBA workshop, the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be as close as your telephone." People with questions or needing help can call the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-525-0321 or, for the hearing- or speech-impaired 1-800-462-7585.

Residents and business owners in Crawford, Franklin, Gasconade, Jefferson, St. Charles, St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve, St. Louis, Warren and Washington counties who have damage from the flooding, should register for disaster assistance by calling the FEMA toll-free registration number 1-800-462-9029 (TTY 1-800-462-7585).
