Cedar Rapids, Iowa -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Iowa Emergency Management Division (IEMD) announce media contact changes.

"The media are an integral part of the recovery process," Federal Coordinating Officer Pete Martinasco stated. "Public Affairs officers will continue to be available to help you with facts about recovery programs and any other assistance you may need in providing information to the public about these programs."

A Disaster Field Office was opened June 24 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to administer programs available to those affected by the floods that occurred between June 3 and 25. Feel free to call the public affairs officers at the above numbers for additional information concerning this disaster operation.

Keep in mind that the field office is not a place for the public to seek FEMA information and assistance. Individuals who need to apply for assistance should call 1 800 621 FEMA(3362). For those who are hearing or speech impaired, the number is 1-800-462-7585. The call is free and recovery specialists can take registrations from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday until further notice.
