JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Families, individuals and businesses in Missouri that have suffered damage from severe flooding and storm events from June 1 - August 13 have one week to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for disaster assistance.
Recovery officials urge residents and business owners with disaster-related damage in the disaster-designated counties (Adair, Andrew, Callaway, Cass, Chariton, Clark, Gentry, Greene, Harrison, Holt, Johnson, Lewis, Lincoln, Linn, Livingston, Macon, Marion, Monroe, Nodaway, Pike, Putnam, Ralls, St. Charles, Stone, Taney, Vernon and Webster) to call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 to register. Lines are open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Register online anytime at www.fema.gov.
The deadline to apply for assistance is October 14, 2008.
The deadline to submit loan applications to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has also been extended to October 14. While no one is required to take out an SBA loan, applications are a key part of the FEMA registration process. If you are a homeowner or renter and SBA determines you cannot afford a loan, you may be referred for other eligible assistance.
