DES MOINES, Iowa -- The hours during which disaster victims can register by phone with the Federal Emergency Management Agency will change starting Thursday night, July 3.

The teleregistration line will close at 11 p.m. CDT on Thursday.

Beginning Friday, July 4, the new hours will be 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. CDT seven days a week until further notice.

Iowans affected by the severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that began May 25 and continue may register by calling FEMA's toll-free registration line at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for those with speech or hearing impairments. Residents can also register by going online anytime at www.fema.gov.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
