State/FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers To Close On July 4th Holiday

LINCOLN, Neb. -- All of the disaster recovery centers operated by the state of Nebraska and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be closed on Friday July 4th for the holiday. The centers re-open on Saturday, July 5th. The hours are 9:00 A.M to 6:00 P.M. daily; closed Sundays.
Recovery centers are located in several counties to assist anyone who lives, works or owns a business in a declared county and suffered damage from the recent storms.
The state and FEMA urge people to call and register either by phone or on the web before visiting the disaster recovery center. Call (800) 621-FEMA (3362) or go to www.fema.gov/assistance. Those with special speech or hearing needs may call TTY at (800) 462-7585.
Teleregistration lines are open 24 hours a day. Applicants will receive a 9-digit registration number to take with them to the recovery center. Disaster specialists at the center will ask for the number in order to track the applicants claim.
Recovery centers are located in:
- Lexington, at the old Wal-Mart, 1501 Plum Creek Parkway;
- Kearney, 2022 Ave. A, Mid-Town Business Center
- Schuyler, Grade School cafeteria, 200 W. 10th St.
- Ceresco, City Hall Community Center, 217 S. 2nd St.
- Omaha, Millard Fire Station, 7010 S. 142nd St.
All recovery centers will re-open on Saturday, July 5th.
