Poplar Bluff, MO -- Following the storms and tornadoes in southeast Missouri April 24 through 28, those who incurred property damage may not know where to turn. President Bush declared 19 counties as federal disaster areas. Those counties are Bollinger, Butler, Cape Girardeau, Carter, Douglas, Dunklin, Howell, Iron, Madison, Oregon, Ozark, Perry, Reynolds, Ripley, Shannon, St. Francois, Stoddard, Texas and Wayne. Missourians in the 19 declared counties may call the following organizations for help.
Tornado Task Force: 1-800-339-8650
This hotline will refer people to appropriate agencies in all Missouri counties affected by the tornadoes.
American Red Cross (ARC): 573-335-9471
The ARC hotline will help inform those affected by the severe storms and tornadoes about food, clothing and shelter options.

The Seventh Day Adventists are coordinating donation efforts.
Volunteers: 573-778-0771
United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is coordinating voluntary efforts from the recent disasters. Please register at the above phone number.

Residents should have their wells tested for purity following the tornado. County health departments are offering free water testing at the numbers above.
