Two Disaster Recovery Centers To Open, Three To Close

Poplar Bluff, MO -- Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) will open Friday, June 7, in Lamar and Springfield to help individuals and businesses affected by severe storms, tornadoes and floods that started in late April and extended into May. The Missouri State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will operate the centers. Addresses are:

Operating hours for the centers will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday until further notice.

Meanwhile, three Disaster Recovery Centers are scheduled to close. The one in Marble Hill will close at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, while those in Pilot Knob and Morley will end operations at 2 p.m. Saturday. The center in Fredericktown will remain open until further notice.

Disaster Recovery Centers are designed to provide more detailed program information to those who have already applied for assistance under President Bush's May 6 disaster declaration that now includes 77 Missouri counties. Representatives of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and loan officers from the U.S. Small Business Administration will be present. The disaster programs available include temporary housing, individual and family grants, disaster unemployment assistance, and other assistance programs. Financial assistance is not directly provided from these centers.
