DES MOINES, Iowa -- A second Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) is now open in Butler County. A Mobile DRC is now in downtown New Hartford, at the fire station, to provide face-to-face assistance to those who suffered damage in the recent severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding beginning May 25. Phones will be available for people to call the toll-free registration line. FEMA disaster assistance specialists will be available to answer questions. The U.S Small Business Administration will have representatives at the DRC as well.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division said the DRC will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.

There are now two DRCs operating in Butler County. Hours for both are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The second site is:

Parkersburg Veterans Memorial Building
Colfax and Miners Streets (One Block West of Highways 57/14 on Colfax)
Parkersburg, IA 50665

If possible, visitors should register with FEMA prior to visiting the DRC, but phones are available if residents have not pre-registered. When registering, applicants should provide current contact information, insurance information, a brief description of damage sustained as well as the specific location of damaged property.
