Disaster Recovery Centers To Open In Taney, Greene Counties

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Disaster Recovery Centers are opening Tuesday, April 22, in Taney and Greene Counties in southwestern Missouri to provide face-to-face assistance to those who suffered damage in the recent flooding.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the State Emergency Management Agency said one DRC will open until further notice in Greene County and another will open for five days in Taney County. Both will be open Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on subsequent days from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., except Sundays. Locations follow:

Applicants should register with FEMA prior to visiting the DRC. Register by calling FEMA’s toll-free registration line at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) (TTY 1-800-462-7585) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, or go online at www.fema.gov, 24 hours a day. Registrants should use the name as shown on their Social Security card when registering.

The Presidential disaster declaration of March 19 for storms beginning March 17 includes all of the following counties declared for Individual Assistance: Bollinger, Butler, Calloway, Cape Girardeau, Carter, Christian, Franklin, Gasconade, Greene, Howard, Iron, Jasper, Jefferson, Laclede, Madison, Maries, McDonald, Newton, Oregon, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski, Reynolds, Ripley, Scott, Shannon, St. Francois, St. Louis, Stoddard, Stone, Taney, Texas, Washington, Wayne, and Webster.

Visitors to the DRCs will find information on FEMA and state disaster assistance programs; U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) low-interest disaster loans and how to complete the loan application; smart building techniques to reduce damage from future floods; and flood insurance.

FEMA coordinates the federal government’s role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
