Recovery Center Relocates tol Elkport / Garber

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- To better assist Clayton County residents and business owners who sustained losses from recent floods, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)/State Disaster Recovery Center in Volga will relocate to Elkport/Garber this weekend.

The hours for the center will be 8:30 a.m. through 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

"The Disaster Recovery Center in Volga, currently located at 505 Washington Street in the Civic Center, will operate through 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 5," said Curt Musgrave, federal coordinating officer. "It will be moved to Elkport/Garber on Sunday, so we can better serve everyone in Clayton County."

"People can call the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-525-0321, or (TTY) 1-800-462-7585 for the hearing- or speech-impaired, to find out about assistance programs and the status of their applications," Musgrave continued.

Disaster victims may still register for assistance by calling toll-free 1-800-462-9029. Those who are hearing- or speech-impaired can call (TTY) 1-800-462-7585.

Beginning Monday, June 7, the toll free numbers will be available Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and closed on Sundays.
