CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Disaster Recovery Center in Waterloo will convert to a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) workshop after Tuesday, August 10. The center in Waterloo is located in the Black Hawk County Hazmat Training Center, 1925 Newell.

The center in Waterloo will remain open until 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 10. On Wednesday, August 11, it will become an SBA workshop. The workshop will be open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. until further notice.

SBA workshops provide an opportunity to discuss disaster loan applications directly with an SBA loan officer. Completing the application does not obligate the applicant to an SBA loan, but it is a required step in determining eligibility for other types of assistance.

Federal Coordinating Officer Curt Musgrave said, "Even after the center shifts to an SBA focus, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be as close as your telephone." People may call the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-525-0321 or, for the hearing- or speech-impaired (TTY) 1-800-462-7585. Helpline numbers are available from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Residents and business owners in Iowa who have suffered storm or flooding damage should register for disaster assistance by calling the FEMA toll-free registration number 1-800-462-9029 (TTY 1-800-462-7585). The registration line is available from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
