Disaster Recovery Centers Available Next Week in Blair and Tekamah

OMAHA, Neb. -- A pair of satellite Disaster Recovery Centers, designed to serve Nebraska residents affected by the flooding and storms of Aug. 6-9, each will operate for two days next week in Washington and Burt counties.
The centers, organized by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Nebraska Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and local officials, provide a face-to-face opportunity for disaster survivors to talk with recovery specialists about a variety of governmental and voluntary programs designed to help them begin rebuilding their lives and property and to learn ways to prevent future damages.
The centers will operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the following locations:

The Recovery Centers will provide the same services as one that opened this week in Omaha in the Florence Community Center, 2920 Bondesson St.
NEMA State Coordinating Officer Fran Laden encouraged storm victims to register for disaster assistance by calling the FEMA toll-free teleregistration number before visiting the center. The number to call is 1-800-462-9029; for those who are hearing or speech impaired, the number to call is (TTY) 1-800-462-7585. Calls can be made from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Those who do not have a telephone or who need assistance with making the call can go to the center for help.
Disaster programs available to cover eligible losses not covered by insurance include:
Disaster Housing Assistance, administered by FEMA, for individuals and families whose homes were destroyed or made unlivable as a result of the severe storms and flooding. The housing program provides funding for temporary accommodations or minor repairs needed to make a home safe, secure and habitable.
Low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration for homeowners, renters or business owners for the repair, replacement or rebuilding of disaster-damaged property.
Grants through the Individual and Family Grant program, administered by the state, for people who have serious needs and necessary expenses suffered in the disaster that cannot be met by other sources.
Technical advice on common-sense strategies to minimize losses from future disasters.
