Diabetes Prevention

  • 57 million U.S. adults ages 20 and older have pre-diabetes

NIDDK, National Diabetes Statistics 2007. www.diabetes.niddk.nih.gov/dm/pubs/statistics

Note:

  • We learned from the DPP that it is possible to prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes. It is important to reach the population at risk of developing this condition with this message. The National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP) promotes the awareness of pre-diabetes – what it is and how to reduce the risk – with individuals, families, communities, organizations and health care professionals.
