Scientific Interest Groups

As an adjunct to its specific discipline-based research Laboratories and Branches, the Division of Intramural Research has established a number of Faculties organized around scientific topics of general interest to the NIEHS. These Faculties, comprising investigators from various administrative units within the Institute, share a common interest in different scientific topic areas and meet periodically to pursue their common interests, primarily through seminars and discussion groups. By the very nature of their structure, these Faculties serve to stimulate the development of multidisciplinary perspectives on their respective scientific topics or foci. Collectively, the members of the different Faculties also serve as an advisory resource for the Scientific Director regarding proposed new hirings and scientific initiatives.
