The Goals South Dakota Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance are:

1. To provide leadership essential to the continued development and improvement of sound and effective programs in professionally related fields.

2. To promote research and experimentation, and to disseminate information secured through research and experimentation.

3. To work cooperatively with related associations at the state, district and national levels for the improvement of the profession.

4. To advance the standards and quality of teaching in South Dakota in health, physical education, recreation and dance.

5. To promote a healthy active lifestyle among the citizens of South Dakota.
