If your breakdown is due to an accident, call the local police, and complete the SF-91 Motor Vehicle Accident Report located in your glove compartment. More instructions are located in your vehicle's glove compartment in your Government Vehicle Operator's Guide. Contact the NIH Fleet Management Branch at 301-496-4511 and the Fleet Maintenance Team will come and tow your vehicle and help make arrangements for your current transportation needs. You are required to submit the SF-91 and a copy of the police department's accident report as soon as possible to the Fleet Management Branch located in Building 1 (301-496-3426).

After hours breakdowns should be reported to the NIH Police at 301-496-5685 who will arrange for towing. Secure the vehicle and make sure you follow up with the NIH Fleet Management Branch at 301-496-4511 on the next business day.

If you breakdown away from the NIH Campus, contact the NIH Fleet Management Branch at 301-496-4511 to get authorization for any repairs to the vehicle. All vehicle repairs must be pre-approved through the Fleet Management Team (Mark Minnick at 301-402-6768 or Vernon Williams at 301-496-4511) prior to vehicle repair. Vehicle operators may be responsible for unauthorized vehicle repair.
