2005 Asian American/Pacific Islanders (AAPI) Heritage Month
Observances

Everyone is invited to the 2005 NIH Asian American/Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month Observances. The theme for this year's 33rd anniversary program is "Progress with Diversity". The observance is comprised of three parts as follows:

On May 19, 2005 from 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., the DHHS APAnet presents its 6th Annual Leadership Training Conference & Awards Ceremony. This event will be held at 5630 Fishers Lane, Room 1066, Rockville, Maryland 20852.

On May 26, 2005, from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Dr. Morgan Sheng, Menicon Professor of Neuroscience, Department of Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), will present a lecture on "Molecular Mechanisms of Brain Plasticity". This event will be held at the Lipsett Amphitheater, Bldg. 10.

On May 27, 2005 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., NIH APAO presents a cultural program, featuring Chinese, Indian, Korean and Indonesia cultural performances. The theme will be addressed by Dr. Richard Nakamura, Ph.D., Deputy Director of the National Institutes of Mental Health. Immediately following the program, a reception will be held in the Visitor Information Center to meet the guest performers and to sample Asian food. This event will be held at the Masur Auditorium, Bldg 10.

These events are co-sponsored by the NIH Asian American/Pacific Islander American Organization (APAO), the NIH-FDA Chinese American Association (NIH-FDA CAA), the NIH Asian American/Pacific Islander Employment Committee (AAPIEC) of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity Management (OEODM). Employees are highly encouraged to attend if work schedules and other commitments permit.
