300,000 Supplements Distributed!
Over 300,000 copies of the NIH Curriculum Supplements have been requested by teachers since 1999
Text Description of Map: This map toggles between a nightime U.S. satellite photograph showing where people live and a map of U.S. zipcodes where one ore more teachers have ordered the NIH Curriculum Supplements. The two maps align perfectly, indicating that NIH Curriculum Supplements distribution is consistent with the geogrpahic distribution of the U.S. population.
Move your cursor on and off the map to see the two versions.

This map toggles between a nightime satellite photograph indicating U.S. population density (light emitted from U.S. cities) and a map of U.S. zip codes where one or more teachers have ordered the NIH Curriculum Supplements. The two maps align perfectly, indicating that NIH Curriculum Supplements distribution is consistent with the geographic distribution of the U.S. population.

The map of blue dots on a yellow background shows NIH Curriculum Supplement requests to date. Each blue dot represents one zip code from which we have received one (or more) requests. The map of white dots on a black background is an actual NOAA satellite photograph of the USA at night showing points of light where people live. By moving your cursor rapidly on and off the map, you can see the relationship between distribution of the NIH supplements and population density. There are nearly 16,500 zip codes in the U.S. with populations greater than 2500 people. NIH Curriculum Supplements have been mailed to more than 16,700 zip codes.

Is this cool or what?
