VISITING THE EXHIBITION

Against the Odds: Making a Difference in Global Health is open to the public from April 17, 2008 through TBD, 2010, during the following days and hours:

Monday - Friday: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Saturday*: 8:30 AM - 2:00 PM

* The exhibition is closed on some Saturdays on and around federal holidays. A full list of holiday closings for the Against the Odds exhibition and National Library of Medicine is available on the holiday schedule.

Admission is free, and docent-led tours of the exhibition are available at no cost. To schedule a docent-led tour, complete and submit the online Tour Request Form or contact the exhibition staff at 301.594.1947 or NLMExhibition@mail.nih.gov

Getting Here:

Visitors to the Against the Odds exhibition will first enter the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland, before arriving at the National Library of Medicine (NLM) where the exhibition is on display.

You can drive or take public transportation to the NIH entrance on South Drive at the intersection with Rockville Pike. Detailed information on how to get to NLM is available online.

Security Procedures:

The security procedures at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) are similar to airport security. All visitors and visitor vehicles undergo security procedures before entering NIH. Visitors on foot enter and undergo security procedures at the NIH Visitor Gateway Center located on South Drive near the Medical Center Metro Station (Red Line). Some highlights of the NIH security procedures are:

  • All visitors 16 and older are asked to show one form of a government-issued identification with a photo, e.g., driver's license, passport, green card, etc.
  • All visitors and their belongings, including visitor vehicles, are inspected.
  • All visitors are issued visitor's badges upon completing security procedures.
