Laurie Whitney, Ph.D.

Dr. Whitney received her undergraduate degree in Bioengineering from Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY in 1991, and her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the State University of New York Health Science Center at Syracuse in 1997. She did her dissertation research on the neuron-specific regulation of anti-viral state.

Following graduate school, Dr. Whitney was awarded a National Multiple Sclerosis Society Postdoctoral Fellowship to work in a laboratory at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. In this laboratory, her research involved the use of cDNA microarray technology to identify novel genes involved in the initiation and progression of Multiple Sclerosis. Dr. Whitney joined the TTB in the spring of 2000 and has since been working as a Technology Transfer Specialist in the Division of Basic Sciences.
