Patrick Twomey, Ph.D.

Dr. Twomey received a Bachelor's degree in Bacteriology from UCLA and a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California in Pathology in 1989.

Dr. Twomey's dissertation research was on the use of photodynamic therapy agentsto purge bone marrow for use in autologous transplantation.

Dr. Twomey did post-doctoral work in the Radiation Biology Branch of the NCI,devising gene therapy techniques to activate the immune system against cancer.

Dr. Twomey became a Patent Examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office,specializing in gene therapy and transgenic animal patents. Dr. Twomey joinedthe TTB, NCI in 1997 and serves as Unit Coodinator for the Division of BasicSciences. Dr. Twomey is a registered Patent Agent.
