Jeffrey Thomas, Ph.D.

Dr. Thomas received his Bachelors degree in Biology and Chemistry from Indiana University.

After completing his undergraduate degree, Dr. Thomas joined Heritage EnvironmentalServices as a Staff Chemist conducting contract laboratory testing. UltimatelyDr. Thomas was assigned to oversee the establishment of a new laboratory facilityin Chicago and to act as Chief Chemist.

Subsequently, Dr. Thomas earned a Ph.D. at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaignin the laboratory of Dr. Robert Gennis. His dissertation research focused onstudying protein structure-function relationships in cytochrome c oxidase mutantsusing enzymatic and spectroscopic techniques.

Upon completion of his graduate work, Dr. Thomas pursued postdoctoral researchat the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the laboratory of Dr. MichaelSchaller studying focal adhesion kinase (FAK), an integrin activated non-receptortyrosine kinase.

After completing his postdoctoral work, Dr. Thomas joined the NCI Technology Transfer Branch as a Technology Transfer Specialist. He currently serves as anAdvisor for Extramural Intellectual Property focusing on research contracts.
