Melissa Maderia, Ph.D.

Melissa received her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Texas A&M University in December of 2000. Her dissertation focused on the investigation of metal-phosphate interactions in RNA, specifically the Hammerhead Ribozyme, through NMR and various biochemical techniques. She went on to do a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Minnesota in the Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biophysics department working on the identification of post-translational modifications in Photosystem II via Mass Spectrometry. In September of 2002, she joined NCI as a CRTA fellow in the Laboratory of Medicinal Chemistry in Frederick. At the LMC, Melissa used NMR as a tool to investigate the structure of DNA molecules containing modified sugar moieties with a "locked" conformation. Melissa joined the NCI TTB in Frederick as a CRTA fellow in November of 2005 and transferred to the Rockville office as part of the Competitive Service Center working with NINDS in January of 2007.
