This program, directed by Dr. Richard Tasca , supports research related to primordial germ cells, gametogenesis, oocyte and sperm development, preimplantation embryo genetics and development, including epigenetics in the egg and early embryo, cloning and embryonic stem cell research. Much of this research, particularly in the areas of preimplantation genetics and development, has provided critical foundations for the development and implementation of technologies associated with assisted reproduction.
Dr. Tasca is also research coordinator of the NICHD Cooperative Program on Female Health and Egg Quality
