MENTOR CONDITIONS-OF-SERVICE AGREEMENT
SciMentorNet reserves the right to deny entrance to its e-mentoring program. We also reserve the right to terminate anyone from SciMentorNet after acceptance. If accepted as a mentor for SciMentorNet, we ask that you agree to participate for a minimum of eight months. If you must withdraw from the program before this time, please notify us as soon as possible.
All SciMentorNet mentors agree to
- respect students’ gender, race, ethnicity, communication styles, and personalities;
- exercise appropriate and proper norms of conduct in all communications with students;
- inform SciMentorNet of any serious issues or concerns regarding their student(s);
- contact their student(s) only through the designated NIH communication network;
- focus communication on education and career issues;
- understand that offensive or sexually charged language is prohibited;
- not share or give out SciMentorNet username and password information;
- not send or distribute communications and other materials that are unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, libelous, or pornographic in content;
- not distribute advertising, promotional materials, spam, or any type of mass, unsolicited e-mail to persons or entities who have not agreed to receive such material;
- not distribute content that infringes on any patent, copyright, trademark, or trade secret;
- not impersonate SciMentorNet staff;
- not interfere with or disrupt the Web site, servers, or networks connected to this Web site; and
- not use the Web site for distributing illegal materials.
PRIVACY ACT NOTIFICATION
Collection of this information is authorized under 42 U.S.C. 241. The primary use of this information is to support an e-mentoring program (SciMentorNet) offered through the Office of Science Education, National Institutes of Health. Through e-mentoring, SciMentorNet will link students with mentors to provide information, guidance, and support for developing a career in behavioral and social science, biomedical science, or healthcare. Some of this information will be disclosed to students interested in being mentored. Submission of this information is voluntary; however, to best support the NIH e-mentoring program, we ask you to complete all fields in the registration form.
CONFIDENTIALITY
SciMentorNet considers all information received from applicants and participants to be confidential. Participants are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all privileged information they receive.
IMPORTANT NOTE: By electronically submitting the mentor registation form, you are agreeing to abide by the mentor conditions-of-service agreement.
