FAQ: Finding a List of Abridged Index Medicus or Index Medicus Journal Titles


Question: How do I find a list of Abridged Index Medicus (AIM or "Core Clinical") or Index Medicus (IM) journal titles?

To find AIM or Core Clinical journal titles, go to the list of:


To find either the AIM titles or the Index Medicus titles, you can search either the NLM Catalog or LocatorPlus:


Go to the NLM Catalog
http://nlmcatalog.nlm.nih.gov.


Go to LocatorPlus
http://locatorplus.gov


  1. Go to LocatorPlus at http://locatorplus.gov/
  2. Click on the "Search LocatorPlus" button
  3. Click on the "Advanced Menu Search" tab
  4. In the "Search For:" box, type either:
    • abridged index medicus
    • index medicus
  5. In the drop-down box to the right, select "as a phrase"
  6. In the "Search In:" drop-down box, select "Abstract/Index Tags"
  7. Make sure that the AND radio button is selected.
  8. In the next "Search For" box, type 1 5 (that's 1 space 5),
  9. In the drop-down box to the right, select "any of these"
  10. In the "Search In:" drop-down box, select "Indexing Status"
  11. Click on the gray "Search" button (towards the bottom of the page)
