H.R.20—The Melanie-Blocker Stokes Postpartum Depression Research and Care Act

On January 4, 2007, Representative Bobby L. Rush (D-IL) introduced H.R. 20, the Melanie-Blocker Stokes Postpartum Depression Research and Care Act. H.R. 20 would require the Director of the National Institute of Mental Health to expand and intensify research and related activities with respect to postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis. H.R. 20 was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.

September 27, 2007 - The House Energy and Commerce Committee, by voice vote, ordered reported H.R. 20 as amended by the Subcommittee on Health on July 19, 2007.

October 15, 2007 – The House Energy and Commerce Committee reported (H. Rept. 110-375) H.R. 20.

FLOOR ACTION

October 15, 2007 - The House passed H.R. 20 by a vote of 382-3 under suspension of the rules.
