H.R. 5060—To Amend the Federal Financial Assistance Management Improvement Act of 1999

On March 30, 2006, Representatives Roy Blunt (R-MO) and Tom Davis (R-VA) introduced H.R. 5060 “to amend the Federal Financial Assistance Management Improvement Act of 1999 to require data with respect to Federal financial assistance to be available for public access in a searchable and user friendly form.” The bill would require the Director of the Office of Management and Budget to work with GSA and other agencies to ensure that within 30 days of a grant being awarded the following information is available to the public, via a single site on the internet, in an easily searchable form including: (1) the name of the grantee and sub-grantees who have received the award (2) an itemized breakdown of that assistance by agency and program source, (3) all awards a grantee has received for the past 10 years (this provision is prospective), (4) and list of dates and amounts of Federal financial assistance awards to the grantee. H.R. 5060 was referred to the House Committee on Government Reform.
