Research

I am mainly involved in structure-functional studies of interleukin-10 (IL-10) related cytokines and their receptors. Cytokines regulate a broad array of cellular functions, they are involved in regulation and balance of the proper immune responds to infections and pathologies. Cytokines perform their biological functions through the binding to the cell surface receptors and induction of specific signal transduction events. Our research is focused on ligand-receptor interactions and mechanisms of signal transduction induced by interferons (IFNs) and IL-10-related cytokines. These cytokines have important immunomodulatory activity and signal primarily through the JAK-Stat signal transduction pathway, which plays a crucial role in the signal transduction of many cytokines, and abnormal function of it has been linked to a number of diseases.
