  • Primary Uses or Exposures: 1,2,3-Trichloropropane is used as a polymer crosslinking agent, paint and varnish remover, solvent and degreasing agent. It has been found as an impurity in certain nematicides and soil fumigants and has been detected in drinking and ground water in various parts of the United States.
  • Nominated by: NIEHS
  • Basis for Nomination: NTP Bioassay (TR-384) that reported clear evidence of carcinogenicity in experimental animals and IARC1 classification as probably carcinogenic to humans.
  • Current Status: Listed in the RoC as reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen since the 8th RoC (1998)
