Figure 3.2 is titled "Past Month Alcohol Use among Persons Aged 12 to 20, by Geographic Region: 2003 and 2004." It is a bar graph, where the horizontal axis of the graph represents geographic regions, and the vertical axis represents the percentage using alcohol in the past month. There are four categories of geographic region: Northeast, Midwest, South, and West. Within each region, there is a bar for 2003 and a bar for 2004. Tests of statistical significance at the .05 level were performed between 2003 and 2004 estimates; significant results are indicated where appropriate.
The percentage of persons aged 12 to 20 living in the Northeast who used alcohol in the past month was 32.0 percent in 2003 and 32.3 percent in 2004.
The percentage of persons aged 12 to 20 living in the Midwest who used alcohol in the past month was 31.7 percent in 2003 and 31.4 percent in 2004.
The percentage of persons aged 12 to 20 living in the South who used alcohol in the past month was 26.7 percent in 2003 and 26.2 percent in 2004.
The percentage of persons aged 12 to 20 living in the West who used alcohol in the past month was 27.6 percent in 2003 and 27.3 percent in 2004.
None of the differences between 2003 and 2004 was significant.
