The Mobile Disaster Recovery Center in Lake Charles has Closed

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Mobile Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) formerly located at the Lake Charles Civic Center in Calcasieu Parish is now closed.

Since October 2005, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recovery specialists, customer service representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and representatives of other federal and state agencies, assisted more than 3,300 residents affected by Hurricane Rita at the mobile DRC, as it traveled throughout the Parish.

Although the mobile DRC is now closed, SBA will continue to provide disaster assistance at it's Outreach Center located in the Capitol One building at 1 Lakeshore Drive, suite 1160 in Lake Charles , LA. Hours of Operation are Monday thru Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturdays 9am to 1pm. Individuals with SBA questions may visit the SBA Outreach Center or call the SBA Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955, hearing- or speech- impaired individuals may call 1-800-877-8339 or visit SBA online at www.sba.gov/disaster .

Residents may also continue to access recovery information from FEMA by calling the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-3362, hearing- or speech-impaired individuals may call TTY 1-800-462-7585 or visit FEMA online at www.fema.gov .

FEMA manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, works with state and local emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program.  FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
