BATON ROUGE, La. -- The Belle Chasse Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) has relocated to the Belle Chasse Branch Library at 8442 Hwy. 23, Belle Chasse. Regular DRC operations in the new building will resume tomorrow, May 20.

All DRC's are in operation from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and are closed on Sundays.

Applicants may also access information by calling the Helpline at 1-800-621-3362 . Hearing-or speech- impaired individuals may call 1-800-462-7585 . Both numbers are available from 6 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week.

Representatives of state, federal, as well as customer service representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration, are on hand to answer questions and provide recovery information. No cash, checks, debit cards or vouchers are distributed at Disaster Recovery Centers. These centers are for the dissemination of information to assist in victim recovery. Written materials about various state and federal programs are also available to individuals and business owners.

FEMA manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, works with state and local emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program.  FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
