AUSTIN, Texas -- The FEMA/State Disaster Recovery Center at the Ellington Joint Reserve Base in Harris County will be off-limits for four days this month.

Military personnel at Ellington, which is an active military base, will conduct munitions testing Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 15 and 16.  Access to the center will be closed again Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 25 and 26, for the "Ron Carter Wings Over Houston Airshow" at Ellington Field.

Nearly 100 Texans who suffered losses due to Hurricane Ike, visit the center daily.  Except for the two breaks in service, the recovery center maintains its normal working hours, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.  Residents are also able to get assistance by calling 1-800-621-3362 or TTY 1-800-462-7585.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
