FEMA Approves Funds for 13 School Districts, School for Deaf in the State of Texas

AUSTIN, Texas -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has granted $302,621 in Public Assistance (PA) grants to the State of Texas as reimbursement for Hurricane Rita-related storm damage to school properties impacted by Hurricane Rita.

The funding, earmarked for 13 Independent School Districts (ISD) in nine counties and the Austin-based Texas School for the Deaf, includes costs for temporary sheltering and other emergency protective measures, buildings and grounds damages, debris removal and road damage. FEMA has obligated funding in the following counties to the school districts listed below:

The Texas School for the Deaf received $1,949 for emergency measures. The State of Texas administers FEMA's PA program under which eligible and documented disaster-related costs are reimbursed to state and local government entities.
