Lake Charles Disaster Recovery Center to Close June 30

LAKE CHARLES, La. -- The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at 1701 Ryan St., will close Friday.

The DRC has served those affected by Hurricane Rita since October of last year.

A mobile DRC is now opened in front of the Rosa Hart Theater at the Lake Charles Civic Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recovery specialists, as well as representatives from other federal and state agencies will be on hand to assist disaster victims.

FEMA manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, works with state and local emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program. FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003
