Tulsa, OK -- The Tulsa Project Impact Foundation was incorporated Dec. 15, marking another milestone in Project Impact's quest to link the public and private sectors, to help reduce disaster losses and to create a disaster-resistant community.
The charitable and educational foundation will complement the City of Tulsa Project Impact program. TPIF's goal is to create an auxiliary legal entity to receive private or public donations and grants, which would be disbursed for hazard-mitigation projects.
The foundation applied for 501-C-3 status, allowing the organization to provide a Federal tax benefit to those wishing to donate funds for disaster-mitigation projects. The group group also created a public-private hazard-mitigation fund to receive donations and grants.
A task force of attorneys and fiscal executives helped Tulsa Project Impact set its new charitable and educational foundation on a firm footing.
TPI's Legal and Fiscal Advisory Committee includes volunteer attorneys Neal McNeill (retired Tulsa City Attorney), Chris Paul and Jeff Dunn; Assistant City Attorney Mark Swiney; City Auditor Phil Wood; and developer/investor Nat Henshaw; Public Works' Fiscal Officer Alan Rowland; and staffers Tim Lovell and Ann Patton.
