Cordell Recovery Center To Close November 20

Oklahoma City, OK -- Individuals and business owners with losses or damages caused by the October 9 tornadoes in Caddo, Kiowa and Washita counties have only until Tuesday, November 20, at 12 noon, to visit FEMA/State Disaster Recovery Center in Cordell.
"A review of center activity records show that most of the applicants for disaster assistance have been to the center since it began operations," said Fred Liebe, State Coordinating Officer.
"But even after the center closes, help with applicant questions or concerns about Federal and State disaster aid will be as close as a telephone call away," added Federal Coordinating Officer Joe D. Bray. "People can call our Helpline at 1-800-621- FEMA, Monday through Friday, to find out about assistance programs and the status of their applications."
The center, operating out of the Cordell Community Center at 101 East Main Street, has helped close to 300 applicants since it opened on November 5. It will be open on Sunday, Nov. 18 from 1 to 6 in the afternoon, on Monday, Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and again on the final day of operation, Tuesday, Nov. 20, from 9 a.m. until noon.
Anyone with tornado-related damages who has yet to apply for federal and state disaster assistance programs may still continue to do so by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hearing or speech impaired individuals can call TTY 1-800-462-7585.
Disaster assistance programs include housing assistance, grants for serious needs and necessary expenses not covered by insurance or other programs, and low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration. Disaster unemployment assistance, tax assistance and other special services are also available to eligible persons affected by the disaster.
