Baton Rouge, LA -- Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Louisiana Office of Emergency Preparedness (LOEP) officials continue response and recovery efforts for those affected by Tropical Storm Isidore and Hurricane Lili. This is the final daily update before going to weekly summaries on Fridays.
As of noon Friday, Oct.18, efforts include:
- Evaluating serious specific needs regarding rental crunch in some areas, state and federal officials are working with the private sector and local leaders to provide alternative housing options.
- Registrations for assistance through FEMA's toll-free registration line for Tropical Storm Isidore and Hurricane Lili total 91,492 and include the following parishes:

- The U.S. Small Business Administration has approved $4,069,000 for home and business loans.
- A total of more than $24 million for housing assistance has been approved. Housing assistance may include lodging expense reimbursement, emergency minimal repair assistance, temporary rental assistance, and mortgage and rental assistance.
- There have been 55,561 home inspections done and returned to FEMA.
- A total of $21,249,522 has been approved for Individual Family Grants (IFG) administered by the state of Louisiana.
- Total assistance from SBA, housing assistance and IFG is more than $49 million.
- As of today, nine fixed-site Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) are open in Slidell, Houma, St. Bernard, New Iberia, Jennings, Rayne, Abbeville, Lafayette and New Orleans.
- The mobile DRC in Gramercy will close at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19. Also Oct. 19 a mobile DRC will be in the Community Center on Highway 1 in Grand Isle through Oct. 21.
- Other DRCs may be opened in affected parishes. DRCs are designed to provide applicants with an opportunity to discuss their needs with personnel from state, federal and voluntary organizations who can answer questions and provide recovery information about various programs available to individuals and business owners.
