Baton Rouge, LA -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) remains on the job through the Columbus Day weekend, helping communities across the country respond to and recover from disasters of all types.

In accordance with changes required by law, FEMA will conduct an upgrade of its computer software programs from October 11 through October 14, 2002. During this time, some of FEMA's computer-assisted services will be temporarily suspended. However, the needs of disaster victims are still being addressed -- applications for assistance will still be taken and inspections will still be conducted.
