Baton Rouge, LA -- We appreciate your dedication in providing information to affected residents who are continuing to recover from Tropical Storm Isidore and Hurricane Lili and realize the severity of the losses as thousands of households still are without power, schools are closed and many cannot return to their homes. Different people have different needs and we attempt to be responsive with appropriate information to the media. This daily summary will continue until October 18 when we will go to a weekly summary on Fridays.
As of noon Thursday, October 10, response and recovery efforts include:
- Damage assessment teams remain in the field to review those affected by Tropical Storm Isidore and Hurricane Lili.
- Emergency needs continue to be assessed.
- Locations for future DRCs are being evaluated, inspected and staffed.
- Registrations for assistance through FEMA's toll-free registration line for tropical storm Isidore and Hurricane Lili total 61,160 and include the following parishes:

- The U.S. Small Business Administration has received 16,508 home referrals and 4,037 business referrals as a result of registrations.
- A total of $10.5 million for housing assistance has been approved. Housing assistance may include lodging expense reimbursement, emergency minimal repair assistance, temporary rental assistance, and mortgage and rental assistance.
- There have been 24,013 home inspections done and returned to FEMA.
- As of today, six fixed-site Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) are open in Slidell, Houma, St. Bernard, New Iberia, Jennings and New Orleans. Two other DRCs will open tomorrow, Friday, October 11, in Abbeville at the St. Teresa Community Center, 101 N. Leonard Ave. and in Lafayette at the Martin Luther King Center, 309 Cora Street.
- A mobile DRC is open in Luling and will move to La Place on Friday, October 11. Also Friday another mobile DRC will be in Baldwin at UMCOR, 101 Sager Brown Road, through Sunday, October 13. Other DRCs will be opened in affected parishes. DRCs are designed to provide applicants with an opportunity to discuss their needs with personnel from state, federal and voluntary organizations who can answer questions and provide recovery information about various programs available to individuals and business owners.
