Baton Rouge, LA -- State and federal officials announce the opening of a special mobile Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) Tuesday, October 8, in Luling to assist those affected by the damage and losses caused by Tropical Storm Isidore and Hurricane Lili. Fixed site DRCs also are open in Slidell, Houma, St. Bernard and New Orleans.

The Luling mobile DRC is located at West Bank Park, 13825 River Road and will be open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. through Thursday, October 10.

On Friday, October 11, the mobile DRC will move to La Place and open at the Perry V. Hart Building, 1801 W. Airline Highway and remain through Sunday, October 13. Hours are from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Additional sites for mobile DRCs will be announced.

Disaster recovery officials strongly suggest applicants register before they come to the DRCs in order to avoid delays.

It is necessary to call FEMA's toll-free teleregistration number, 800-621-FEMA (3362), for losses from Hurricane Lili even if you have already called for damages from Tropical Storm Isidore. People with hearing or speech impairments may call (TTY) 800-462-7585.

The centers are staffed by personnel who can answer questions and provide recovery information and written materials about various assistance programs available to individuals and business owners.
