San Antonio, TX -- The mobile Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) will be in Frio County on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at The Courthouse, 500 E. San Antonio, Pearsall, TX. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday. On Saturday the hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.. There are 11 other centers now open, spread throughout the 34 counties designated for Individual Assistance. Non-mobile DRCs are now open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. until further notice.

The DRCs are staffed with experts who can answer questions and provide information about all of the state and federal programs available to people who sustained property loss from the Texas Floods of 2002. Programs include crisis counseling, legal aid, disaster unemployment assistance, temporary housing and State Individual and Family grants to pay for repairs, medical expenses. Experts on hand include program specialists, and loan officers from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Mitigation materials are also available.

"DRCs provide a chance to sit down and talk one-on-one about the types of help available," said Scott Wells, federal coordinating officer. "You can even get help filling out your SBA application for a low-interest loan."

Homeowners, renters and business owners may also apply for disaster assistance by calling the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) at 800-621-FEMA (3362), or for speech or hearing impaired, 800-462-7585 TTY.

"Call now to apply for help," said Duke Mazurek, state coordinating officer. "Or visit one of the centers. Whether in person or by telephone, we'll help you every step of the way."
