San Antonio, TX -- State and federal officials announce the opening of a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Live Oak County to assist those affected by the Texas flood of 2002. Currently there are 12 DRCs located throughout the affected area.

Friday, July 26, the Live Oak County center will open at the Emergency Services building (Fire Station), 914 FM 3024, Swinney Switch, TX 78350.

The centers are staffed by personnel who can answer questions and provide recovery information about assistance programs. Some disaster programs include temporary housing, rental or mortgage assistance, or other unmet needs, low interest Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster loans, disaster unemployment assistance and crisis counseling.

State Coordinating Officer Duke Mazurek and Federal Coordinating Officer Scott Wells urge those with questions to visit one of the centers.

"There are many programs available for individuals and business owners," Mazurek said. "This is a great opportunity for people to sit down with different agencies and get their recovery process questions answered."

If you have not registered with FEMA, it's not too late. To start the application process, call 800-621 FEMA (3362) or TTY: 800-462-7585 for the hearing or speech impaired.
