San Antonio, TX -- The mobile Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) will be in Hays County on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, July 22, 23 and 24 at the San Marcos Activity Center at 501 E. Hopkins Street in San Marcos. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. There are 10 centers now open, spread throughout the 31-county disaster area. Non-mobile DRCs maintain the same hours seven days a week.

Every DRC comes staffed with experts who can answer questions and provide information about all of the state and federal programs available to people who sustained property loss from the Texas Floods of 2002. Programs include crisis counseling, legal aid, disaster unemployment assistance and grants to pay for repairs, medical expenses or temporary housing. Experts on hand include program specialists, mitigation experts, and loan officers from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

"The DRC presents a prime opportunity to sit down and talk to someone about the types of help available," said Scott Wells, federal coordinating officer. "If needed, you can even get help filling out your SBA application for a low-interest loan."

Homeowners, renters and business owners may also apply for disaster assistance by calling the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) at 800-621-FEMA (3362), or for speech or hearing impaired, 800-462-7585 TTY.

"Call now to apply for help," said Duke Mazurek, state coordinating officer. "Or visit one of the centers. Whether in person or over the phone, we’ll help you every step of the way."
