BATON ROUGE, La. -- Given the severity of Hurricanes Katrina's and Rita's impact and the magnitude of the continuing need for housing in Louisiana, many people purchased personal generators to provide power to their homes.

Eligible applicants may qualify for reimbursement for documented expenses related to the purchase or lease of a generator used to allow a household remain in their dwelling following a power outage caused by the disaster.

The reimbursement will apply to:

The period of eligibility for applicants living in Calcasieu, Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, Terrebonne, Vermilion, or Cameron parishes for generator reimbursement was extended to Nov. 30 for Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
