WASHINGTON, D.C. -- New information on the Federal, state and local response to the Oklahoma disaster.
- The federal/state Disaster Field Office (DFO) in Oklahoma City, is expected to be fully operational this morning.
- Oklahoma Disaster Statistics: 41 deaths; 751 injuries; 2 missing 7,024 homes affected
- Joint Federal/State Preliminary Damage Assessment Teams are doing further work to determine eligibility for additional federal disaster assistance
- The Department of Housing and Urban Development is assisting in locating rental units for temporary housing.
- Federal housing inspections of damaged residences have begun with 68 inspectors in the field.
- There are 358 federal personnel in Oklahoma responding to this disaster.
- Two of three AmeriCorps teams arrived Saturday; the third is scheduled to arrive today. The teams will assist the state officials with donations management and warehouse operations.
- The Economic Development Administration (EDA) is providing technical assistance related to the extremely hard-hit town of Moore. Damage in the town has had a devastating impact on the town's employment and tax base. EDA personnel will be working with representatives of the University of Oklahoma and the City of Moore to develop an economic recovery study.
- The Department of Defense Coordinating Element has returned to Fort Sill, Okla., where it will remain on standby.
- All Federal Urban Search & Rescue canine search teams have been deactivated.
- The Department of Health and Human Services Disaster Mortuary Team and Disaster Medical Support Team have been released.
- The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Power Planning and Response Team has been released.
- State officials have designated a warehouse facility for donations processing.
- The first Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) opened Saturday in Moore (Cleveland County). Three others will open today, one in Oklahoma City (Oklahoma County), Midwest City (Oklahoma County) and Bridge Creek (Grady County).
- Community Relations teams completed door-to-door visits in Del City (Oklahoma County) and Moore (Cleveland County).
