Little Rock, AR -- The Office of the Inspector General-Audits Division delivered the audit report on Disaster 1354 Arkansas/Pine Bluff to the Acting Director of FEMA Region VI Gary Jones on Monday April 30, 2001. A copy of this report was also forwarded to the City of Pine Bluff. Earlier last week Acting Central District Audit Manager Tonda L. Hadley, along with several federal and state officials, met with the mayor and other local officials and briefed them on this report.

The audit was less generous with the rate than the previous decision made in partnership with the State of Arkansas. That decision was that the eligible debris removal rate would be $10 per cubic yard. The audit recommended disallowing $3,593,539 of questionable costs and paying $8.12 per cubic yard.

The regional director was advised to respond and notify the audits division of the actions taken to comply with this audit by June 29, 2001.
